Q. What will my address be?

Due to data protection we do not release details of your apartment number before your arrival. The following is an example of how your mail should be addressed once you arrive.

Correctly labelled post is delivered by the state company, An Post, to your apartment mailbox. Incorrect postal addresses will delay the delivery of your post and may not be delivered at all. Packages are usually received in the Accommodation Office.

Q. When is the pedestrian turnstile operated?

For the safety and comfort of all our residents we operate a ‘quiet time’ between 11:00pm to 07:00am each evening. Access during these times is restricted to just pedestrians (no vehicles) and by way of the turnstile. Only GHR residents registered for the turnstile will be able to operate it.

Q. Will my room or apartment be cleaned on a weekly or monthly basis?

The apartments are self-catering and therefore you and your fellow residents are responsible for the cleaning of your bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living room. Cleaning inspections will be arranged during the year to ensure the apartments are kept in a good condition.

Q. What are the opening hours of the Accommodation Office?

The accommodation office is open Monday to Friday – 9am to 5:30pm; closed for lunch 1pm to 2pm.

Residents who require assistance outside opening hours – including emergencies – should contact security at 0868182370.

Q. What is the role of Security?

Security are a resource open to residents who have both security issues and out-of-office accommodation concerns.

Griffith Halls of Residence benefits from a round-the-clock security presence; the security office at the entrance to campus is constantly manned.

Security also carry out regular patrols of campus.

It’s worth noting that residents who get locked out can set their doors to ‘office mode‘ to prevent them from being locked out.

Q. If I leave the accommodation before the end of my lease, do I get a refund?

Under the terms of our Community Values agreement it’s not possible to provide refunds once a period in accommodation has elapsed.

We can provide refunds on occasions where we have both filled all spaces in our residences in the period during which you are staying and can re-fill your room.

Can I have guests stay over?

We welcome guests on-campus until 10:30pm.

Overnight guests can be permitted, though they will require prior authorization from the Accommodation Office. If you would like to have a guest stay over, please feel free to call to see us at Block 1, just above the archway.

Can I change rooms if I do not get on with my room mate?

We try our best to match residents with someone we believe they will get along with.

We accommodate share requests where possible.

If you do not get along with your room mate and would like to swap we may be able to accommodate your request, though our ability to accommodate room swaps is limited depending on availability.
